Wishing You A Merry Christmas

And a safe, happy and prosperous 2023!

We're happy to report that 2022 has been a successful year for the Society. We have continued to provide our highly valued Community Advisor service to those who need it (clients and their whānau and/or family) and we even raised extra funding to move ahead some high-priority projects.

Infoodle: our Online Database and a New Website

One of these high-priority projects was to get modern and host our records in a secure online database Infoodle, including all client, member and donor records.

As part of this process, we have been contacting clients, conducting a well-being check and updating their contact details.

You can be assured that maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of the data we hold remains central to all that we do. Infoodle is a secure Cloud-based system which will help our service to be less vulnerable to hazards, more resilient and more agile.

We are also working on a new, accessible more modern website which we expect to go live early in the New Year.

A Replacement Car for our Community Advisors

We realised our oldest vehicle was in need of replacement when the repair bills started to roll in and successfully fundraised around $20,000 to replace it!

Our grateful thanks to our funding partners who made this amazing achievement possible: Trust House Foundation, Pub Charity Limited and Four Winds Foundation.

We will tell you more about this in the New Year.

Thanks Gillian and Hamish and Other Supporters

As most of you know, Gillian Fry has resigned after an amazing ten and a half years to take up a new challenge at the Cancer Society. Thank you so much for your dedication and hard work Gillian - you will be missed! (Although the Community Advisors continue to insist they have not yet accepted your resignation).

Hamish Bockett-Smith has decided to step-back from the MSW website once the new website launches although he will continue providing some IT and other support. Thanks so much for all the amazing mahi to date Hamish and we hope you get to enjoy the benefits of having a little more spare time in the future!

Thanks also to our donors, sponsors, funders and volunteers who help the society throughout the year, we couldn't do it without you all!

MSW Changes in 2022

Team changes earlier in the year saw Lacey Reedy and Suzie Linton join Wellington MS as a Community Advisor and Communications & Fundraiser respectively.

The Committee has remained relatively stable, with little change this year other than Heather Davey stepping up as President while Laura Dempsey stepped back to her substantive position of Vice President. Thanks to Heather, Laura Ross Judge, Eric Daubé, Steve McCloskey, Alarna Sharrat and Chelsea Quinn for all their effort to support the Society and PwMS in the Wellington region.

Superheroes Aquaman, Judge Dredd and Batman fundraising at Spring into Tawa 2022

Having Fun with Fundraisers

Over the last few months there has been lots happening. In September, we raised $688 through Good in the Hood at Trentham's Z Service Station.

Our grateful thanks to Glen Sullivan and his Superhero friends (in the image above) who used their Cosplay at Spring Into Tawa to raise big smiles, while raising around $300 for MS Wellington.

In mid-November WMS held our 'Mrs Harris goes to Paris' movie fundraiser at Lighthouse Petone. The movie was fabulous and we all had a great evening, and raised $870 in the process, thanks for coming everyone. A special thanks to those who contributed and organised the raffle prizes, we couldn't have done it without you.

Thanks for supporting our fundraising this year.

Every cent WMS raises goes towards running our service to support PwMS living in greater Wellington to live their best lives.

Happy New Year with mandarin decorations

Happy 2023

We want to wish a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year to you all.

Please stay safe and well over the holiday period so we can all meet again in 2023 and beyond.

Our Community Advisor service will close on 21 December until 9 January for the Christmas and New Year break and service will be limited over the holiday period. We would like to remind clients that we are unable to provide an urgent service. They need to contact their GP or another health provider in the event of an emergency.

See you all in 2023!
