This quarter's e-newsletter prepares for the AGM, where we will be marking the 60th anniversary to the Wellington Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Please come to the 2025 Wellington MS AGM

Every year the law requires us to hold an Annual General Meeting (AGM), to present the accounts for the previous year and to allow Members to vote on the Committee's President, Treasurer and committee members.

The President, Treasurer and Ops Team take the opportunity to tell you about the year in review and it's your opportunity to ask questions or have your say.

Some of our Patron Professor Anne La Flamme's research team will update everyone on the important research they are doing to find a cure for MS.

Another deserving member of our Community (a PwMS, carer or volunteer) will be awarded The Andy Woodside Memorial Award, for something special they did during the year.

Please RSVP to suzanne@mswellington.org.nz.

 Can you support the Committee?

Please get in touch if you have skills to share and would like to be a volunteer on the Committee. We especially need a new Secretary to take the minutes of the Committee's monthly online meetings. We are always looking for non-committee volunteers too.

If you're interested please email steve@mswellington.org.nz

It's the 60th Anniversary of Wellington MS

The Wellington MS Society was incorporated on 6 August 1964, which means we're celebrating our 60th anniversary. We're grateful to all the Committee Members, clients, carers, volunteers and employees who have contributed to the success of WMS over the years, ensuring PwMS in greater Wellington can rely on our support to live their best lives.

To celebrate we invite you to join us for a slice of cake at the AGM.

New Venue For Our Morning Tea

We've been really looking forward to marking Global MS Awareness Day with our wonderful clients and families on Friday 30 May and are so pleased to advise we've found a new venue: Room 4, the Johnsonville Community Centre.

We've booked the room from 10 - 11.30am for our morning tea. Please bring a plate of something yummy to share or a gold coin donation if you're in the fortunate position to do so.

If you're thinking of coming please let your Community Advisor know or email info@mswellington.org.nz by 23 May.

And A Gorgeous Raffle

This beautiful handcrafted quilt in the image below is titled 'Sailing along the Coast' and has been created by Valerie Cameron, who very kindly donated it to WMS to help with our fundraising.

We're very pleased to be able to honour this beautiful donation by raffling it within our Community for Global MS Awareness Day. Second prize is a Wellington MS T-shirt. You can take a look at the quilt at this month's MS coffee mornings throughout the motu.

Tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5 and you can buy them from your Community Advisor or email info@mswellington.org.nz. The raffle will be drawn at our Global MS Awareness morning tea on 30 May.
