We made it! Southern Cross Round The Bays 2025

On Sunday 16 February 2025 we got up bright and early and took part in the Southern Cross Round the Bays Wellington 2025.

Image Description: The WMS team for the Southern Cross Round the Bays 2025 from L to R: WMS President Steve McCloskey, Suzie Linton (Comms & Fundraiser), Lindsay Watson and his daughter Ciana.

Lindsay Watson was the star of the show. Not only were Lindsay and his daughter our first pair to complete the course but Lindsay leveraged his wide circle of friends and contacts and raised over $1100 for Wellington MS. Well done Lindsay!! Overall the event raised over $1615, with a few donations still trickling in.

A special thanks to Taylor Property Plus. Eleven of their team participated for Wellington MS at the event.

We challenged ourselves with the 8.5km walk, which went from the beginning of Oriental Bay, up to the roundabout where you turn off to the airport on State Highway 1 then back to Kilbirnie Park.

We had two PwMS on our team and walked in pairs, at the speed that best suited each of our particular needs. There were other participants signed up as part of our team too, who were walking or running in their own groups.

We all agreed that the people taking part despite mobility impairments or with aids or assistance were the true heroes of the day.

Thank you to everyone who has supported one of our team. we're very grateful that we raised a further $1600 to invest in our vital mobile community advisory service.

If you or a family member or friend might be interested in taking part for Wellington MS next year do let one of the team know, as we'll be thinking about whether we can do it again in future years.

If you haven't yet made a donation and would like to, you can find out more and fundraising pages for each of our team members through this link https://wellington-ms.grassrootz.com/
