Update: MS Awareness Week Street & Supermarket Collection

We would like to say a big THANK YOU to everyone involved with the collection, including site owners and organisers, collectors, our new face of MS Bianca-Lucia Clark and our academic friends from Victoria and Otago Universities.

Special thanks to:

• Gayle Crozier, who held the fort at Wellington City New World all day on the Friday
• Margaret Webster, Lindsay and Warwick for all they did to make the Silverstream New World collection our best performing supermarket for 2024
• Wendy Wallbank and Diane, Christie and Winter Sinai who took wonderful care of Upper Hutt Woolworths (Queen St)
• The team at Waikanae New World, who kept the collection buzzing
• Peter North and the rest of our collecting team at New World Lower Hutt
• Carole Taylor, who organised a collection outside Clive's Chemist in Wainuiomata
• Our Patron Professor Anne La Flamme, whose team of Masters Students organised another yummy Bake Sale and raised $780. Anne personally spent the Friday afternoon collecting at Thorndon New World, along with one of her daughters and our President (when he could get away from his day job)
• To our committee, who raised over a thousand dollars collecting around Wellington CBD on the Wednesday morning rush hour.

Thanks also to the organisations who agree to allow our collectors to work their magic on their sites each year: New World Wellington City, Thorndon, Waikanae, Porirua, Lower Hutt, Silverstream, Woolworths Upper Hutt (Queen St and Russell St), Pak'nSave Petone, Clive's Chemist Wainuiomata, Victoria University and Wellington City Council.

We know that the free mobile Community Advisory Service we offer remains essential for many PwMS around the greater Wellington region. We really welcome your help to getting our message out to the public, and the funds raised are very welcome (and always needed) too*. 

Many of us find the connections and conversations we have with others throughout MS Awareness Week is a highlight every year, and this year was no exception. Thank you to everyone who shared their thoughts and their journey throughout the week.

We're very pleased to advise that the collection raised $7,898.44 towards the vital mobile service we provide, which enables PwMS and their families to live their best lives. Thanks to everyone who made a donation or some baking and helped to spread the word. We're very grateful for your help every year, especially when this year is proving challenging for many.

*Only around one-third of our costs each year are covered by providing services on behalf of the government.
